Time for another year...

As the countdown begins to step into another year, I start making resolutions mentally. This is a tradition that I have followed every year. I keep some, I break many, what's the fun if you don't break any resolutions?! Like my son loves to quote these days "rules are meant to be broken" > Health tops my list this year... I cannot afford to neglect it again. I will do whatever it takes to keep myself fit and fine. >To be more active, in terms of cooking, juicing etc.. need to take out that juicer and use it. > I want to learn something this year, have short listed few things, I hope I manage to tick it off my list this year. > I should try and blog more, if not weekly, at least monthly. > Quit sugar completely. Or at least bring it down to half teaspoon > Reduce my gadget time, especially the phone. I told myself I will do it in 2016 also, never did it really. > Spend better time with my son. Should really move my a**, and do stu...

There was a TIME...

All it takes is a song, and you are immediately transported to a time gone by... A time, where love was red hearts, roses, red world through rose tinted glasses, mushy cards, sentimental songs.. audio cassettes recorded with playlists that conveyed the 'feelings'. Bunking school, fibbing about extra classes, to watch a movie, or go to some isolated place to just hold hands. Reel life promises inspired the real life decisions. A time where going to school became necessary, to just catch a glimpse of your 'boyfriend' or 'girlfriend'. Wow!! As cliched as it may sound... Time really flies! And the sad part is, we grow up. We grow up to realize the truth behind the glasses. The colour 'red' vanishes, when you remove the glasses. That no matter, how nicely you draw a heart, and fill it with bright red colour, it still breaks. It not only breaks, it shatters into thousand pieces, you can spend a lifetime trying to pick them up, you will sti...

Between then and now...

My last post was on 16th March 2015, and I haven't visited this space since then... Lot of things happened between then and now.. March 25th 2015, we finally got the possession of the villa, we had been rooting for. The previous owner was a complete jerk, he put us through an ordeal. But as they say, when you really want something, the universe conspires to get it for you. I desired that house, which is now my beautiful home. Even before, we signed the papers, I had visualized the decor of this house...my house, my home! I was happy with my previous villa too, it was enough for the 4 of us, but, hey, dreams are not in your control, fulfilling them definitely is. My husband made it happen. He just went after the guy to get this for us. The whole of April and May was spent in doing up the house. The woodwork, the furniture, drapes etc... Everything had to be coordinated. Though am still not happy with the colour of the curtains.. Looking around to find the right one. Then came t...

Decade old Mother..

About 10 years ago, on my way to work, I stopped at a chemist shop and bought a self pregnancy test kit. I reached the office, logged in, went about my routine, waiting for my team to settle down.  A couple of hours later, I went to the washroom to take my test. My worst fear came true, the result was positive. I was pregnant. I just didn't know how to react. I cried. I was so scared. I didn't know what to do, whom to talk to, whom to call- Nothing! My mind was blank. I walked up to my Manager and told him, I needed to go home, as I wasn't 'feeling' well. My husband traveling helped, as I didn't want to answer any questions. I reached home and I cried my heart out, something I couldn't do in the office easily. After that, I threw up. Why did I cry? I cried because I was torn between keeping the baby and keeping my job. I did not understand at that time, what was more important. I knew in my heart that I could not leave a child with a maid and work peaceful...

Parent Teacher Meeting Agony

One of the things that I really don't look forward to in my son's academic sessions is the PTA meetings.  There is nothing more painful than that for me, to first get up early on a Saturday morning, when I could be just be getting some 'beauty' sleep, then rush things up to make sure we reach on time. Time is allotted to each parent for the meeting. Needless to say, no one sticks to that.  They all come at different times, and then throw their weight around, at others, who actually made an effort to reach at the scheduled time, saying '"our slot was 10". So what if they reach at 10:30, instead of 10, they will still argue with you that they were 'before you'.  How I totally dislike such arguments! My husband would not get into any of this, happily would give way to others.  The parents sit and talk for at least half an hour, (sometimes more), with the Teacher. Phew! I seriously wonder, what is there to talk about a 6-year-old or an 8-year-...

Bring it on 2015!!

The time of the year, when you say goodbye and welcome at the same time. 2014 has been one hell of a roller coaster ride for me. Relationships were tested. Loved ones were cheated. Some good things also happened. So, if I was to look at the year from a distance, I would say it has been an unforgettable ride. More than any other year, or should I wait before I say more than any other year. As I have no idea what the next year has in store for me. My personal achievement this year would be opening myself to the idea of getting a pup home, and I did. It's only after Buddy came home, I realized that all along I wasn't really averse to a dog. It was just a silly mind block that I had. Anyway, on the last day of the year, I want to put everything behind me and move ahead. Although, it's easy to say, but, I will try my best to do it also. For the last couple of months, lot of thoughts crossed my mind, and I kept making a list of resolutions mentally. Now I will just put a...

Two Mums and a Road trip!!

This is a long pending post. I have to write it today. In the month of May, when the heat is driving everyone crazy. Two crazy women, that is my sis and me, decide to take a road trip to Pondicherry. While people were visiting colder places, to cool themselves from the scorching heat, we did the opposite. We decided to bake ourselves in the blistering heat, anyhow, we started on a Thursday morning. Our first stop was to be Chennai, the city that I don't really like. My grandparents, my maternal uncles and my aunts used to stay there. My grandparents passed away few years ago. One of the maternal uncle moved to Mumbai and my Aunt moved to Delhi. One maternal Uncle and his family were still there. We had met them in Bangalore 3 weeks before our trip, when they suggested that we spend a day with them, considering we hadn't been to Chennai since 2009. So, we decided, to leave on a Thursday and stay in Chennai. I started driving, till the time I hit the highway, I was a littl...
